The DNA family reconstruction test is done with one target, a child, and two paternal relatives such as aunts, uncles, grandparents (or sisters, brothers, or parents of the father).
It also helps to include the child's mother in the test if possible. This will ensure we have the complete picture of the family's genetics and will produce the most conclusive result. When a known mother takes part in the missing DNA test, we compare the mother and child, and then remove the maternal DNA from the child's profile. This allows us to focus solely on the paternal DNA in question. As a result, with the maternal DNA removed, the test result will be as definitive as possible.
